15-year-old Nasir Al-Mutlak, a refugee from Palmyra, Syria, suffered a quite serious amputation at the hip joint, as a result of the February 2023 earthquake in Antakya. He needs a hydraulic hip prosthesis, including a hydraulic hip joint, 2 top adaptors, 1 tube-adapt short, 2 schieber adapters, 1 tube clump adapter, and 1 silicone specially made to fit the amputation site.

Nasir’s prosthetics will come from Ottobock Deutschland. PalmyraRelief CIO’s partner clinic, Dogan Medikal — based in Mersin — is providing treatment. Nasir’s treatment will also include all orthopaedic examinations, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, and training with Dogan Medikal, as well as accommodation and meals whilst being treated.
